When you need assistance, the Eglin and Hurlburt Airman & Family Readiness Centers are available. The Airman & Family Readiness Centers can make your life in the military more productive and satisfying. We are here to help you get settled into the community and, once you are settled, we want to work with you in making your tour in this area one of the best in your military career. We offer Spouse Employment assistance through our Career Focus Program and also work very closely with the local JobsPlus One-Stop Career Centers. This state agency provides a dedicated Military Family Employment Advocate who comes to Eglin each Thursday from 9am to 1pm.
The Airman & Family Readiness Centers have many programs to assist with all aspects of your military life cycle. Services are free and most are available to all military, DOD civilians, retirees and the families of each. Programs include Information & Referral, Family Life Education, Personal Financial Management, Air Force Aid Society/Army Emergency Relief/Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (this assistance is offered through the Airman & Family Readiness Center Air Force Aid Society Program to members of other services through cooperative agreements), Family Employment, School Liaison Officer (SLO) assistance, Relocation Assistance & Loan Closet, Transition Assistance, Volunteer Resource Program, Family Readiness.
Workshops, information and referral on financial management, employment, volunteerism, relocation, duty separation, parenting and family enrichment, and military transition programs are available. Sometimes it seems easier for families to make friends and be a part of a community than for a single person. The key to being a part of the community is getting involved. Join a church group, sign up for educational courses, recreational programs, or take part in a special interest group such as a fitness club. Make a list of all the activities you participated in before you moved and add some other activities you would like to try. Then find out about these activities by calling the Airman & Family Readiness Center Information and Referral Specialist at 850.882.9060/DSN.872.9060. A wide variety of educational and recreational opportunities await Eglin's youth. A well-equipped Child Development Center and a wealth of Home Day Care Providers offer excellent child care services. The recently renovated Youth Center continues to provide youths and teens with unique recreational options.
