Question:
“When are football try outs for the local high schools for the 2010-2011 school year?”
Answer:
We posed your question to the principals of the local area high schools and their responses are as follows:
Choctawhatchee High School
I think I can speak for all the schools when I say that we will welcome players as soon as they arrive on campus. Football is not a “tryout” sport and all can play if eligible. All they need is to meet eligibility requirements and have a current physical, parent permission form, and active insurance. Students at all programs are encouraged to be at spring and summer workouts but here at Choctaw, we will take them when we can get them! Early or late! Come one, come all! Fort Walton Beach High School
A current student will try out in the spring during spring training. We have a summer program that is not required but is built around conditioning.
A student when he registers tell the counselor he is interested in football, and the counselor gets Coach Owens to come up and meet the student. The try out is basically for position, not for being a member of the team. Football Coach: Mike Owens, 850.833.3300 ext 4405.
Crestview High School
Our summer workouts will start on July 5th. Varsity from 8AM- 10:30AM, JV & 9th from 10AM- 12AM. First office day of practice Aug 9th. Coach Brunson can be reached at 850.689.7186.
Niceville Senior High School
Though Niceville has a spring program, students who move in during the summer or even into the year have an opportunity to compete for a spot.
Football Coach: John Hicks, 850.833.4114 option 5.
