Question:

I am very curious about the Neurology clinic. I have Multiple Sclerosis and I have had to go off post to Chapel Hill, NC to get my Medical Care at the MS Clinic. How well does the Hospital/TMCs on post handle stuff like this and will they refer me off post like they have here? If off-post, then is there somewhere close by that can handle my checkups and any other needs I may have concerning this disease?

Answer:

The 96th Medical Group (MDG) provides comprehensive medical care to approximately 83,000 eligible beneficiaries (active duty military members, retirees, and their families). Our neurologist, Dr. Nanni, manages Multiple Sclerosis (MS) on a regular basis. As well we have a fairly robust network support for MS. Because of our Family Medicine Residency (FMR) clinic training platform many of our family physicians are comfortable managing MS as well, once a diagnosis and management plan has been developed by consultation with a neurologist.

The 96th MDG provides a wide variety of outpatient services and presently supports one of the larger outpatient workloads in the Air Force. The Medical Group has designated patient relations representatives for each clinic/area to assist active duty members and their families in obtaining the services they need.
