Welcome to Northwest Florida
JobsPlus Northwest Florida Military Community Council

BRAC legislation mandated significant realignments for Eglin Air Force Base (EAFB) in Northwest Florida. The decision mandated that Eglin would receive the U.S. Army 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) from Ft. Bragg in Fayetteville, North Carolina and would become the home of the initial Joint Academic Training Center of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. Combined, both programs were estimated to transfer approximately 10,000 new residents into the community.

Recognizing this regional population increase, the Workforce Development Board of Okaloosa and Walton Counties extended an invitation to key public/ private organizations and united community efforts by forming the Northwest Florida BRAC Families Transition Council. Working groups were created to focus on Housing, Education, Employment, Health Care, and Family Services and are co-chaired by representatives from Eglin Air Force Base and the community to ensure maximum collaboration and focus.

This model has worked so well that it is now marketed to all personnel moving to Northwest Florida. Today, the Council is known as the JobsPlus Northwest Florida Military Community Council and its success has solidified a cooperative military/community partnership that will continue beyond BRAC.
